About Us

We offer two one-day courses, designed to be taken sequentially but which can also be attended separately. They are recognised for training by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and are currently being validated by the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia & Pain Therapy.

1.     Cadaveric Course

This one-day course, based at the University of Birmingham, offers anaesthetists the opportunity to improve their understanding of regional anaesthesia by correlating cadaveric anatomy, landmark techniques, nerve-stimulator blocks and transcutaneous nerve stimulation with an introduction to sonographic imagery.in unique Dissection Room- based workshops.

2.     Applied USS in Regional Anaesthesia (AURA) Training Day

This one-day course is limited to two candidates and takes place in the Regional Block Area at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. We cover patient management in the block area, USS-guided techniques, block assessment and supplementation of insufficient anaesthesia, all under direct supervision by a Consultant Anaesthetist. This gives delegates a unique and intensive experience in this tertiary centre. For more information please see RCOA Bulletin May 2009; 55: 35-37.
